London’s best restaurants: 2019 Michelin Guide

In 1900 the first Michelin Guide was published. French businessman and tyre manufacturers, Édouard and André Michelin, had the simple idea of promoting driving by releasing a guide – a perspective on best landmarks, places and eateries. And, in turn more driving means more tyre sales. Today the Michelin Guide is “the standard” for restaurant quality. If you are looking for the “absolute best” then start with The capital’s 3 and 2 star restaurants. We’ve also added our “No-Star Heroes” (our favourites): London’s longstanding restaurants that deliver continued quality, plus some newcomers.

TravelHustle recommendation: The Dorchester Hotel has a wonderful cocktail bar and piano bar serving an array of liquors, including some rather expensive 60-year-old Cognac’s. It’s a great place to enjoy a drink before or after your meal. For this reason, our recommendation is Alian Ducasse at The Dorchester. It’s expensive but you will enjoy a lengthy meal comprising of many courses and spanning the breadth of the taste sensory spectrum.

TravelHustle recommendation: Between South Kensington and Sloan Square is the London home of Michelin Tyres; the company behind the Michelin Guide and more familiar restaurant Star guide. The Michelin Building showcased its brand centre piece, the Michelin Man, aka “Bibendum”, through fabulous stained glass windows. Today chef Claude Bosi resides on the first floor of The Michelin Building and holds 2 Michelin Stars. There is no better places to enjoy a fabulous meal in and amongst a historical setting; and a setting that inspires so many chefs to greatness.
